Emergency crews put on standby for early morning WestJet landing in Regina

A reported “engine concern” brought emergency crews to Regina International Airport as a WestJet flight from Toronto landed early Friday morning.

James Bogusz, CEO of the Regina Airport Authority, said the airport called an “aircraft standby” after getting the report from WestJet flight 755.

“That’s where there may be a concern from the pilot,” Bogusz said. “And in case of any form of emergency, our airport firefighters basically deploy in the airfield on a precautionary basis.”

Bogusz said that a mutual-aid protocol was also enacted, involving Regina fire crews and police.

He said the plane landed and taxied to the gate without incident.
