Saskatoon Transit is working to correct an error that has prevented it and its vendors from issuing new smart cards or reloading existing cards.
According to the City of Saskatoon, the disruption was caused by “a routine software update” to its retail sales platform. The source of the error has been identified, and the city said Saskatoon Transit is working with its vendor to restore the service as quickly as it can.

“Customers with active fare products on their reloadable smart cards can continue to travel and validate their fares as normal,” the city said in a statement.
“Mobile ticketing through the TGo and Transit apps remains fully operational, and cash fare payment continues to be accepted onboard.”
While fare payment is required for all transit riders, the city said if a customer can’t reload their card because of the disruption, they will still be allowed to board city busses.
The city said updates will be shared on the Saskatoon Transit website, and thanked transit users for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
The smart cards were rolled out in March in an effort to unify the Saskatoon Transit fare system.
