The city said there is a dedicated window for service and therapy dogs from 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., followed by hour-long windows from noon to 6:55 p.m. when pet owners can bring their dogs by the pool for a dip.
There’s also a session reserved for small dogs from 7 p.m. to 7:55 p.m., the city noted. Dogs must be shorter than 40 centimetres at the shoulder and must weigh less than 20 pounds to participate.
There’s a limit of 60 dogs per hourly session, and the city said registration is required. Registration opens on Tuesday, July 7 and runs until Aug. 16.
“All dogs must be accompanied by an adult owner, well-socialized, vaccinated and licensed in Saskatoon,” the city said in a statement.
“The Saskatoon SPCA will be hosting a fundraiser BBQ at the event, with all proceeds going towards SPCA initiatives.”
No human swimmers will be permitted in the pool during the event.
