Riders on Saskatoon Transit buses will soon need to dig a bit deeper into their pockets before boarding.
Transit fares are set to increase, starting on July 1. The cost of a single ride for an adult will rise from $3 to $3.50, while high school students will pay $3 per trip, up from $2.75. The cost of a day pass will rise from $8.50 to $9.50, while the cost of a monthly pass for adults will rise from $83 to $91. An adult annual pass will cost $1,001 starting on July 1, up from $913.

According to the city, the increased fares will “support ongoing transit services, help address rising costs, and maintain the affordability of equity-based fare products.”
Low-income and discounted social services passes will not be increased, the city said, and free fares for children in Grade 8 and under remain in place.
The city noted that prices are going to be adjusted again at the end of this year.
“A second fare adjustment will take effect on January 1, 2027,” the city said in a statement.
