Saskatoon drivers and pedestrians can look forward to more significant traffic disruption on Monday.
The City of Saskatoon said in a news release on May 5 that work would begin on June 8 at 8th Street and Cumberland Avenue to accommodate Link transit station construction.
Drivers should expect significant delays and lane restrictions in all directions, for six to eight weeks, the city said, and pedestrian crossings will also be closed for the duration of the project.

Link is the city’s expanded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system
Motorists in the city have already endured construction work on McOrmond Drive between Kerr Road and Addison Road, resurfacing work on Highway 7, the closure of Acadia Drive between Taylor Street E and Avondale Road, and ongoing work on University Bridge along with College Drive between Clarence Avenue and Hospital Drive.
The construction on College Drive combines Link platform construction with other projects, including repair of the bridge and the 25th Street watermain repairs.
The $250 million Link project will see 73 per cent of the cost covered by the provincial and federal governments. It was approved by city council in 2018, and construction on the first eight platform stations was completed in 2024.
The system launch is planned for 2028.
The council says BRT will have the potential capacity to move up to 1,440 passengers per hour in each direction, adding that one bus with 30 passengers moves the same amount of people as 27 cars.
