8:30 – Canada has entered a technical recession, but what does that really mean, and should we be concerned? Jason Childs, University of Regina professor of economics, joins the show to share his thoughts on the matter after Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called for an emergency debate to discuss Canada’s economy.

9:30 – In the past couple of weeks, the Saskatchewan government has launched a survey asking people whether they support restrictions on youth access to social media. Australia is now about six months into their ban on social media accounts for anyone under 16. While platforms have removed nearly 4.7 million underage accounts, many young people are finding ways around the restrictions, sparking debate over whether the ban is actually working. To help us understand what’s happening, Evan is reaching across the globe to speak with Tama Leaver, Professor of Internet Studies at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia.
LQ: Would you like to see an Australian-style ban on social media here in Saskatchewan?
10:00 – Open phones – Evan goes to the phones to chat with listeners about what’s on their minds today. Call 1-877-332-8255.
10:30 – Do first-time offenders deserve a second chance? This is what Lisa Kerr, associate professor at Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law, explores in her Globe and Mail opinion piece about what Canada should do with rehabilitated offenders. Her piece argues that rehabilitation and personal transformation deserve more attention in our justice system.
LQ: Do you think a first-time offender deserves more leniency than a repeat offender? Why or why not?
11:00 – St. John Ambulance is one of Canada’s oldest charitable organizations. While many people know them for first aid and CPR training, they do so much more. From event medical services and therapy dog programs to volunteer emergency response, they play an important role in keeping people across Saskatchewan safe and prepared. Evan is joined by Jonathan Tremblay, CEO of St. John Ambulance Saskatchewan, to tell us more about the organization and the work it does in our communities.
11:30 – A former Snowbird pilot is doing what she can to keep the iconic air show in the sky. She’s asking the government to scale back the aerobatic show instead of suspending it completely. Maryse Carmichael, Retired lieutenant-colonel, former commander and pilot of the Snowbirds, joins the show to share why she’s making this call and how supporters can get involved.
LQ: Are the Snowbirds a national symbol worth protecting, or is the money better spent elsewhere?
12:00 – Evan revisits his conversation with Jason Childs, University of Regina professor of economics.
