Saskatoon’s four outdoor pools are set to open for the season in the coming days, offering plenty of summer fun and another way to beat the heat as temperatures climb.
The Riversdale Pool on Avenue H South opens on Friday, the city said, followed by the Lathey Pool on Taylor Street East, which opens on Thursday, June 11. The Mayfair Pool, located on Avenue F North, will open for the season on Monday, June 15, while the George Ward Pool on Fifth Street East will welcome the season’s first swimmers on Wednesday, June 17.

Drop-in admission at the pools runs $9.75 for adults and $8.85 for swimmers aged six to 18. Kids five and under are admitted for free when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and family passes and bulk ticket purchases are also available.
The outdoor pools are also offering a weekday special, with admission going for $1.55 per person from Monday to Thursday, running from 6 p.m. until closing time. Additionally, the city said each pool will offer a free admission day this summer, giving everyone a chance to jump in and swim.
The outdoor pools offer various amenities, the city said, including waterslides, springboards and spray pads, along with sports courts and lawn areas.
A new addition this summer is the Youth Centre being offered in the park outside the entrance to Riversdale Pool, running from 12:30-7:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and from 1:30-5:15 p.m. on Fridays.
“Youth ages 12–16 are invited to drop in and enjoy sports, games, music, and time with friends,” the city explained in a statement. “The program is free to attend, with activities shaped around what matters most to youth in our community.”
Swimming lessons are offered at the outdoor pools during July and August, the city said, with class options listed in the Saskatoon leisure guide.
The pools will be cleared if thunder or lightning storms are occurring, the city noted, and will be closed during steady rain or when the temperature drops to 14 C or lower.
