The death of a Timber Bay man on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation is being investigated as a potential homicide case.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, police were notified about an injured man at a home on the Cree nation north of Prince Albert shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday. Police arriving at the scene provided first aid, but the man was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Steven Beatty, a resident of Timber Bay. His family has been notified of his death, the RCMP said.
The Mounties said Beatty’s death is considered suspicious, and the Saskatchewan RCMP’s homicide unit has taken charge of the investigation.
“We are unable to provide additional information about this investigation at this time,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“Updates will be provided when available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public.”
