The sudden onset of summer weather sent heat records falling like dominoes across Saskatchewan this week.
According to preliminary data shared by Environment Canada, eight communities in the province set new record highs for May 27, with one area beating a record that had stood since 1969.

The Assiniboia area saw the mercury rise to 33.9 C on Wednesday, beating the record of 30.5 C set in 1988.
The Broadview area recorded a high of 29.8 C, beating the previous record of 28.9 C, set in 1986.
In Elbow, the temperature hit 33.7 C on Wednesday, shattering the previous record for May 27 of 31.1 C, set back in 1971.
Last Mountain Lake also set a record Wednesday, hitting 29.9 C and beating the 1988 record of 29 C.
Lucky Lake beat its previous record by more than five degrees on Wednesday, recording a temperature of 33.4 C, well above the previous record of 28 C, set in 1979.
Rockglen also crushed its previous record for May 27, with Wednesday’s high of 32.2 C trumping the 1971 record of 28.3 C.
The Watrous area set a new record of 32.3 C on Wednesday, beating the 30.5 C record that had stood since 1986.
And in Weyburn, thermometers hit 34.3 C on Wednesday, blowing past the 30 C record set all the way back in 1969.
Heat warnings from Environment Canada continued to blanket all of central and southern Saskatchewan on Thursday, stretching as far north as Buffalo Narrows.
Saskatoon can expect a high of 37 C on Thursday, the weather service indicated in its forecast, followed by 35 C on Friday.
In Regina, the mercury is expected to rise to 36 C on Thursday, followed by 35 C on Friday.
