The Saskatchewan RCMP says its homicide unit is investigating the death of a 26-year-old man in Pelican Narrows and asking people to be on the lookout for an alleged suspect.
According to police, officers got a call about an injured man at a home in the northern community just before 4 a.m. on Thursday. Officers arriving at the scene found the injured man, who police identified as Jaden Custer, a resident of Pelican Narrows. Custer was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said, and his family has been notified of his death.

“The death was determined to be suspicious in nature. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has taken carriage of the investigation,” the RCMP said in a statement.
Police are asking that any sightings of 31-year-old Brett McCallum, who also goes by the name Nigel McCallum, and any information about McCallum be reported to RCMP.
According to the RCMP in a release, McCallum is wanted on one count of second-degree murder, a charge that was laid on May 22, in connection to the alleged killing of Custer.
McCallum is described as about six feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has scars on both forearms, a mole above his right eyebrow, a crown tattoo on his right hand and a rosary and cross tattoo on his left forearm.
He is known to travel to the Prince Albert area, RCMP said, but his current location is not known.
“If you see Brett McCallum, do not approach him,” RCMP said, urging all sightings and inforamtion about McCallums whereabouts be reported to RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
Police said no further details about the case could be shared, but said updates will be provided “when available,” and noted that the public will be informed of any imminent public safety risks.
Anyone with information on Custer’s death was urged to contact the Saskatchewan RCMP or make a report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
