A 30-year-old woman from Sandy Bay is facing charges after allegedly crashing an SUV into an RCMP vehicle during a chase in the Nipawin area on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Saskatchewan RCMP on Wednesday, the incident began when police got a report about shoplifting at a business in Choiceland. The RCMP said officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ SUV, but the driver took off at high speed when police attempted a traffic stop.

The RCMP said officers caught up with the SUV once again on Highway 35, near Nipawin, where an officer positioned a police vehicle in the westbound lane in an effort to stop traffic.
“The SUV struck the parked police vehicle, colliding with its passenger side,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Both the SUV and the police vehicle were disabled. Three occupants from inside the SUV were arrested at the scene.”
Police said nobody was hurt in the crash.
The 30-year-old Sandy Bay woman who was allegedly behind the wheel of the SUV is now facing charges including assaulting a police officer, dangerous driving, flight from police and breaching conditions of a release order, police said. She was also found to be wanted on a warrant from the Prince Albert Police Service.
“The other two occupants from the SUV were released from police custody, one without charge and one with a charge pending,” the RCMP added.
“A court information is not yet sworn for the individual with the pending charge, which is related to the initial report of theft.”
