The Regina Pat Canadians held off a comeback and handled business on day two of the 2026 Telus Cup.
The Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League champions defeated the Halifax Macs, the Atlantic representative, by a 4-3 score to improve to 2-0-0-0 at the national championship tournament taking place in Peterborough, Ont.

Regina is the current defending champion, with this year’s team featuring a few returning faces like Maddox Schultz, who was named the Telus Cup MVP for his performance in 2025. Regina got back to the tournament by winning the Western Regionals, which took place in Regina.
The Pat Canadians opened the tournament with a 7-3 win on Monday over the host Peterborough Petes.
Ryker Doka opened the scoring for Regina against the Macs with a power-play goal with 4:05 left in the opening period.
Regina added to their tally quickly in the second period as Ethan Young scored after just 1:30.
That would be the only goal scored in that frame but the third period proved to be a thrilling finale.
River Welsh scored for the Macs’ first goal of the game 2:04 into the period. Just 1:35 later, Nate McKay scored to even things up.
Schultz scored his first goal of the game on the power play to help Regina retake the lead. Regina added to that lead as Eli Heroux scored what would end up being the game-winner.
Halifax got back to within a single goal with Carter Sullivan scoring with two minutes to go, but that would be as close as Halifax would get.
Pat Canadians goaltender Ben Meyer made 37 saves in the game.
Regina will take on the Waterloo Wolves on Wednesday. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
