A mysterious white powder that led to a scare at a Canada Post distribution centre in Saskatoon on Monday morning turned out to be non-hazardous.
According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, a decontamination unit and a hazardous materials technician were dispatched to the mail carrier’s centre on 103rd Street East shortly after 8 a.m. after getting a report about an “unknown white powder.”

The fire department said a postal worker was exposed to the powder and was assessed by paramedics, but showed “no symptoms of injury or distress.”
Hazardous materials technicians wearing protective equipment examined the powder and determined that it was not hazardous, the fire department added. No further details on the substance were shared.
No injuries were reported, and the fire department said the distribution centre was able to return to normal operations after the powder was examined.
