A man and a woman from the La Loche area were killed in a collision involving two SUVs on Highway 40 on Friday evening.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers got a report of the two-vehicle crash near Blaine Lake shortly after 11 p.m.

“There were four occupants in the first SUV. Two passengers were declared deceased by EMS at the scene,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“They have been identified as a 28-year-old male and 27-year-old male, both from the La Loche area. Their families have been notified.”
Police said a third passenger in the SUV was hospitalized with serious injuries, and the driver was also hospitalized with “injuries described as non-life threatening in nature.”
The driver of the second SUV was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the Mounties added.
“Blaine Lake RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist,” the RCMP noted.
