Police in Saskatoon were busy over the weekend as officers responded to a number of incidents, including a pair of robberies and a pair of stabbings.
A 41-year-old man is facing a robbery charge after an alleged incident at a downtown bus stop on Friday.

According to police, officers were called to the 400 block of Third Avenue North at around 4 p.m., where a 61-year-old man reported that he was robbed while waiting for a bus.
“The man asked to look at his phone but refused to return it to the victim,” police said.
“An altercation began and the suspect pulled out a machete and struck the victim before fleeing on foot.”
Police said the suspect was arrested at the intersection of First Avenue and 23rd Street soon after, and he’s now facing charges of robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching probation.
“The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening,” the police force noted.
Woman allegedly assaulted and robbed on First Avenue
At around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, police were called to the 200 block of First Avenue South where they spoke with a 54-year-old woman who said she was assaulted and robbed of personal items by two women and a man while she was standing outside a building.
“Responding officers were able to locate all three still in the area, based on their descriptions,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
Police said all three suspects – a 20-year-old woman, a 33-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, were charged with robbery. All three were released on undertakings ahead of court dates in late May.
That block, which is home to the Midtown mall and other businesses, was the site of a similar incident on Thursday evening. In that case, police said a woman was allegedly pinned to a wall and mugged by a group of people. All three alleged robbers were arrested and charged.
Two men arrive at hospital with stab wounds
Police were called to St. Paul’s Hospital twice on Sunday morning after two men arrived to seek treatment for stab wounds.
In the first incident, police were called to the hospital at around 8:30 a.m.
“Preliminary investigation showed the victim may have been assaulted by another man while in a room at a business in the 700 block of Idylwyld Drive North,” police said. “It is believed the men are known to each other.”
In a separate but similar incident, police said officers were called to the hospital on 20th Street West less than an hour later after another patient arrived with a stab wound.
“Upon arrival, officers located the injured male receiving medical care by hospital staff,” police said, noting that his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
“Through initial investigation, officers learned the stabbing occurred in the 700 block of Idylwyld Drive.”
Police asked anyone with information on either incident to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or make a report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Two arrested, one charged after shoplifting incident on Confederation Drive
Police said a 24-year-old man is facing charges after a shoplifting case at a business on Confederation Drive on Saturday. Police did not name the business, but that block is home to the Confederation Mall.
According to police, officers were called to the business at around 11:20 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.
“Further information indicated a female was allegedly attempting to steal merchandise and another male approached and threatened a security guard,” the police force said in a statement.
“Arriving officers located and arrested both suspects; a search of the man’s jacket resulted in police locating two knives.”
Police said the woman was released without charges, while the man is now facing weapons charges.
Cab driver allegedly threatened by man with knife
Police were called to Montreal Avenue South just before 11 p.m. on Friday after a cab driver was allegedly threatened with a knife.
“Through initial investigation, officers learned a cab driver was giving a male a ride and upon arrival at the location, the male went inside to get money to pay for the ride,” the police force said in a statement.
“After several minutes, the driver knocked on the door and a verbal altercation ensued before the male suspect allegedly threatened the driver with a knife.”
Police said the cab driver was uninjured, and the incident remains under investigation.
Man bear sprayed on Northumberland Ave.
Police say a man was bear sprayed by two men who had asked him for money and a cigarette.
According to police, officers were called to Northumberland Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday, where they found the victim suffering the effects of the stinging spray.
“Officers learned the man was approached by two males who asked for money and a cigarette before one of them allegedly discharged bear spray at the victim and fled on foot,” police said in a statement.
Woman bear sprayed outside store on 22nd Street
Officers were called to the 1300 block of 22nd Street West just before 5 p.m. on Saturday after a woman was bear sprayed outside a store.
“Arriving officers located the 24-year-old woman suffering from the effects of bear spray,” police said. “The suspect and victim are believed to be known to each other.”
