Police in Saskatoon say officers have opened two separate homicide investigations following a pair of deaths within the last week.
In the first case, police said officers determined the death of a woman in a house fire last week was a homicide. According to police, officers were called to a residential home on fire in the 400 block of Avenue I South on Friday.

“During firefighting operations, firefighters removed a 61-year-old female from the structure,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“She was declared deceased at the scene and, through investigation, has been determined to be the victim of homicide.”
No further details on the victim or the cause of the fire were shared by police.
In the second case, police said a 39-year-old man was found unresponsive on Avenue X South just before 4 a.m. on Thursday.
“He was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services West where he was later pronounced deceased,” police said in a statement.
The police force said the deaths represent Saskatoon’s third and fourth homicide investigations of 2026.
