An unlicensed immigration consultant has been ordered to pay a nearly-six-figure sum to compensate a victim.
According to Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Immigration and Career Training, Yan Wang collected payments for immigration services, “but failed to submit any documents on the client’s behalf to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program and provided the victim with falsified documentation.”

The ministry said it issued the compensation order after a formal investigation in order to recover the funds owed to the victim, who the ministry said suffered financial losses as a result of the fraudulent services Wang provided.
The order is the first of its kind under the Immigration Services Act, the province noted.
“Consultants who provide services without a licence, produce false documents, or otherwise exploit clients face serious consequences under the ISA,” the ministry said.
