A 44-year-old man from Weldon is facing a list of charges after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint and briefly kidnapping the two minors who were inside.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers got a report shortly before noon on Thursday saying a man armed with a gun had threatened two minors and stolen their vehicle.

“Rhe report indicated two youth were in a parked vehicle when an adult male entered with a firearm pointed at them,” the Mounties explained in a statement.
“The male drove around the Tisdale area, forcing the youth to remain inside the vehicle. Approximately two hours later, the male let both youth out of the vehicle near Tisdale. No injuries were reported.”
Police said officers spotted the stolen vehicle on 101st Avenue in Tisdale shortly after getting the initial report, and arrested the alleged kidnapper.
“After searching the vehicle, a firearm, knife and face covering were seized. Officers also confirmed that the adult male had warrants from Melfort RCMP and Saskatoon Police Service,” the RCMP said.
The 44-year-old man is now facing charges including robbery with a firearm, kidnapping and pointing a firearm.
“He has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled appearance in Melfort Provincial Court on March 19, 2026,” the RCMP noted.
