Three arrested after officers spot stolen vehicle
Three people were arrested after police surrounded a stolen vehicle in the city’s the Westmount neighbourhood on Friday morning.
Police said officers were patrolling in the 800 block of 22nd Street West when they spotted the vehicle at a gas station.
“Verbal commands were issued to the occupants; however, they refused to comply,” police said in a statement.
Police said a “less-lethal weapon” was used to break the vehicle’s windows, “allowing officers better visibility inside.” After the officers broke the window, police said one of the occupants got out of the vehicle and was arrested.
“The second occupant exited the vehicle a short time later; however, continued to be non-compliant with commands. The less-lethal weapon was again used to gain compliance from the occupant; he was arrested without further incident,” police said.
“A third suspect was arrested from within the gas station without incident.”
Police said charges against the three people who were arrested – a 28-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, are pending.
