A sudden snowstorm created near white-out conditions and slippery roads in Saskatoon and surrounding areas on Monday afternoon.
Despite Environment Canada forecasting 2-4 cm of snow overnight to Tuesday, that amount had fallen in many parts of the city by 6:30 p.m., with many CKOM and Rock 102 listeners texting in about worsening road conditions asking on-air announcers to remind people to turn on vehicle lights to assist visibility.

Although the snow had eased by 7 p.m., roads were still slick.
No weather alerts were issued, and no statements were issued by Saskatoon Police Service or the City of Saskatoon.

People on social media were reporting Circle Drive traffic was at a crawl in both directions, and traffic in Martensville was snarled because of a crash. Many roads were affected by blowing snow.
Saskatchewan’s Highway Hotline map at 6:30 p.m. showed snow-covered roads in the city, as well on Highways 7, 11, 12, 14, 16.
