Saskatoon police were busy responding to four separate bear spray incidents on Friday and Saturday night.
According to a news release from the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) shared on Monday, officers were called to the 200 block of First Avenue South on Friday, Feb. 13, where a woman was reportedly bear sprayed around 7:20 p.m.
Police reported the suspects had fled the scene.
More than an hour later, at 8:40 p.m., police responded to a man who reported being bear sprayed and robbed in the 100 block of 22nd Street West. Police reported the man was not able to provide a suspect description to officers.
Three more bear spray incidents were reported to police on the evening of Valentine’s Day.
Officers said they received a report of a group of young people “armed with bear spray” on First Avenue South around 7:20 p.m on Saturday. A man and woman reported they were victims of a bear spray attack, police said.
A second report, received about five minutes later, alerted police to a bear spray incident on a bus in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. There were no serious injuries.
Another five minutes later, around 7:30 p.m., police learned a man had allegedly bear sprayed another man on 22nd Street West near Auditorium Avenue. In connection to this incident, police have arrested a 16-year-old suspect.
He faces charges of assault and possession of a weapon, according to police.
