Police in Saskatoon are searching for the people behind three robberies involving bear spray on Wednesday night.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were called to a business on the 3000 block of Preston Avenue South just before 9 p.m. in response to a report about an attempted robbery. Police said a group of people entered the business and asked to “handle a product.” When staff declined, police said one of the members of the group discharged bear spray before fleeing from the business.

About fifteen minutes later, police responded to another business, this one on the 1800 block of McOrmond Drive, for a report of a robbery, but the suspects had fled by the time the officers arrived.
“However, investigation determined that a group of people entered the business and, upon viewing a product, discharged bear spray towards an employee, stole the product, and fled,” the police force said in a statement.
Then, at about 10:45 p.m., police were called to a business on the 10 block of Assiniboine Drive for another report of a robbery, and bear spray was once again discharged.
“Investigation found that a male had entered the business and, upon being refused service, discharged bear spray towards staff and fled,” said the police.
Police said all three incidents are believed to be related, and the investigation is ongoing.
