If your back alley or local street is impassable because of ruts, help is at hand.
After melting and refreezing created deep ruts across the city, crews completed local street rut levelling on Wednesday, City of Saskatoon said in a news release on Feb. 11.

The city said that crews will then move on to tackling back lanes and local streets that were skipped because they require temporary parking restrictions due to the number of parked vehicles.
These streets will have temporary parking restrictions posted and then be graded, the release said. The process should take about a week, with crews working on ruts during daytime hours and snow removal work happening overnight.
The good news came with a disclaimer, though, with the release saying that the clearing work “will be adjusted as conditions allow.”
To help clearing crews, people should consider parking off-street where possible.
The city has had around 24 graders working since Feb. 6 clearing the mess, and said previously that graded snow will get stored in windrows or piles in a parking lane, median, or boulevard and won’t be removed unless extreme conditions warrant it.
Information on winter road maintenance and a list of scheduled and completed neighbourhoods can be found online. Any residents with concerns about specific locations in the city are encouraged to contact the city’s Customer Care Centre by email or phone.
