Mounties search for suspects who stole SUV in Birch Hills area
RCMP officers are on the hunt for two suspects who stole an SUV in front of police officers over the weekend.
Police said officers received a report of a suspicious truck on Fenton Ferry Road, southeast of Prince Albert, on Saturday.
Officers spotted the truck in Birch Hills, police said, but the driver took off northbound on Highway 3.
“Shortly after, Prince Albert RCMP observed a truck matching the suspicious vehicle’s description pass them at a high rate of speed on Highway #3. The truck then stopped in the middle of the highway, blocking an oncoming SUV. As officers were approaching the scene in their police vehicle, a male and a female got out of the truck and forcefully removed the driver of the SUV from their vehicle,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
“The male and female then got into the SUV and fled at a high rate of speed, heading south towards Birch Hills on Highway #3. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.”
Police said the stolen SUV was later found abandoned near Macdowall.
Anyone with information on the theft or the two suspects involved was encouraged to contact the Saskatchewan RCMP or make a report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
