It’s 20 up, 20 down for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s basketball team.
For just the second time in the program’s history, the Huskies had an undefeated regular season which they sealed with an 84-54 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Wesmen on Saturday.

The win not only completed a weekend sweep for the Huskies, but also secured the team’s place in conference history with a perfect 20-0 record heading into the playoffs.
Getting out to a 17-5 lead after the first quarter, it was a strong performance from start to finish for the Huskies. Maya Flindall was leading the way with a team-high 17 points.
The Huskies also celebrated their five pending graduates on ‘Senior Night,’ with stars Gage Grassick, Téa DeMong, Anna Maelde, Andrea Dodig and Ella Murphy Wiebe honoured by the team before the tip-off.
While the 1971-72 Huskies women’s basketball team also finished the regular season without a loss, the 2025-26 Huskies are the first team in the school’s history to do so over a regular season that featured more than just six games.
The Huskies’ achievement marks the 17th undefeated season in Canada West history and the 65th in U Sports history.
Looking to defend their 2024-25 national championship, the Huskies enter the playoffs as the top-ranked program in the country. The Huskies have now stretched their unbeaten streak to a whopping 50 games, with the team’s most recent loss coming in late 2024.
The Huskies’ run is tied as the fourth-longest streak in U Sports history.
Earning the top seed in both the Prairie Division and in Canada West, the Huskies have earned a bye and will host the conference quarter-final on Saturday against either the Mount Royal University Cougars or the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades.
That game will be a 5 p.m. start at the Physical Activity Complex.
Men’s basketball season over
As for the Huskies men’s basketball team, the season wrapped up on Saturday with an 80-76 loss to the Wesmen.
Easton Thimm had his 15th double-double of the season, recording 20 points and 20 rebounds in the loss.
Finishing the season with a 5-15 record for the second year in a row, the Huskies fell short of Canada West playoffs with a ninth-place finish in the Prairie Division.
