A 19-year-old man who allegedly mugged a man inside Saskatoon’s Midtown mall last month was arrested after returning to the scene of the crime, police said.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were called to the mall on First Avenue South on Jan. 15 after getting a report that two men armed with bear spray and a knife had mugged a victim in a stairwell at the busy shopping centre.

“The following day, police were again called to the mall after one of the suspects, wearing the same clothing as the day before, had returned,” the police force said in a statement.
“Upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a knife, a can of bear spray and stolen property.”
The man is now facing a robbery charge, and police noted that he was also wanted on outstanding warrants.
Man injured in stabbing at restaurant on 22nd Street West
A 31-year-old man is facing charges after a fight at a restaurant ended in a stabbing.
According to police, officers were called to a home on Avenue W South shortly after midnight on Jan. 26, where they found the male victim “suffering from serious injuries.”
Police said he was involved in “a physical altercation with two other males inside a restaurant and lounge in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West.”
A suspect was identified, police said, and officers found him on New Year’s Eve while he was getting into a taxi at St. Paul’s Place.
“Upon his arrest, officers found him to be in possession of a machete,” the police force said in a statement.
The 31-year-old man is now facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and mischief.
Woman sexually assaulted after being picked up by taxi: Police
A 65-year-old man is facing charges of sexual assault and unlawful confinement after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman early last month.
According to a statement issued by police on Wednesday, officers were contacted by a 33-year-old woman on Jan. 3 who said she was confined and assaulted after being picked up in a taxi.
“Investigators determined that while in a vulnerable state the woman was picked up and driven to a number of locations over a four-hour period before being taken to her home,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“Investigators with the Sex Crime Unit believe other, similar incidents may have occurred.”
Ferdinando Orru, 65, made his first court appearance in provincial court Wednesday.

Saskatoon man faces child exploitation charges: Sask. ICE Unit
A 65-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with child exploitation-related offences.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit conducted a search warrant at a home in Saskatoon on Nov. 25, 2025, where electronic devices were examined and seized, according to a statement.
On Tuesday, the man was charged with two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
He was released on court-imposed conditions.
His next court date is Feb. 23, in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
