A 29-year-old Cumberland House man has been charged with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm with intent after RCMP received a report of an injured person outside a business in Cumberland House on Thursday morning.
RCMP said in a news release on Jan. 23 that officers received the report around 8 a.m. on Jan. 22 and found a male youth with “injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.”

First aid was provided to the man until the paramedics arrived, police said, and he was taken to the hospital with “injuries described as serious in nature.”
“Investigators identified a possible suspect, including a vehicle he was known to operate,” said the Mounties, who searched for the suspect with a police dog.
Officers found the suspect was inside a home in Cumberland House, and a Critical Incident Response Team helped arrest him about 1:40 p.m.
The investigation continued with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services.
The man is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Jan. 26.
