“The occupant reported arriving home and finding unknown men in the house, one of them armed with a sawed-off shotgun,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“The 43 year old victim was assaulted as they stole his wallet and attempted to steal the keys to his truck. The suspects then fled in a Ford Taurus.”
Police said officers tried to stop the Taurus shortly after the alleged assault, but the driver evaded police until the vehicle became stuck in a snowbank. Two men fled from the vehicle on foot, police said, but both were arrested after one was bitten and injured by a police dog.
“The Taurus was found to be stolen.”
The 43-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted suffered injuries police said were not considered life threatening.
Both suspects are now facing a lengthy list of charges, police said, including armed robbery and dangerous driving.
“Further charges are expected,” police noted.
