“Investigation determined that two males assaulted an individual at a residence. The individual reported non-life-threatening injuries to police,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
“One of the males then threatened occupants with a firearm and discharged it inside the residence. No one reported physical injuries related to the firearm discharge.”
Police said a drone and police dog were used to track down one of the suspects, a 34-year-old man, who was arrested near the home where the alleged assault took place.
He’s now facing charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, pointing a firearm, uttering threats, assault, resisting or obstructing police, possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition. He made his first court appearance on Tuesday, police said.
Meanwhile, police said the investigation identified the second suspect as 35-year-old Lonnie Moosomin, who is now wanted on an assault charge.
“A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Battlefords RCMP are actively working to locate him. They are asking the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts,” the RCMP said.
Moosomin was described as five-foot-seven, weighing 132 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who spots Moosomin was advised not to approach him and to report the sighting to police or Crime Stoppers.
