Weekend traffic stops helped Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) make five arrests over the weekend.
SPS said in a news release on Jan. 12 that around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 a vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of Avenue L South and officers from the warrant enforcement unit found a sawed-off rifle, a replica firearm, brass knuckles, bear spray, and methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Four people were arrested.
A 30-year-old woman has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession in a vehicle, and breach of court-imposed conditions; and a 30-year-old man is facing three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of prohibited possession.
A 32-year-old woman in the vehicle was also arrested after officers found her to be unlawfully at large, and a 24-year-old woman has been charged charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Then, on Jan. 11, police said a traffic stop around 2 a.m. near Pacific Avenue and 23rd Street East found open alcohol in the vehicle, and police said a search of the vehicle then turned up bear spray, drug trafficking paraphernalia, various suspected drugs, a baton, and a firearm.
The 35-year-old male driver was arrested and charged with several unspecified weapons and drug-related offences, police said, as well as being ticketed under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act for having open alcohol in a vehicle.
