The first baby born in Saskatoon in 2026 was welcomed to the world at 1:11 a.m. on Thursday.

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Emelia Rose Ava Iron was born at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital to a mother from Canoe Lake First Nation. The health authority said Emelia was the woman’s first child, and the girl weighed three pounds, 14 ounces at birth.
“Mother and baby are doing fine,” the health authority said.
Details of Regina’s first baby of 2026 may have to remain under wraps, with the health authority citing privacy concerns.
“Please be advised that we… are not able to provide any information regarding Regina’s New Year’s baby at this time due to privacy,” the health authority said in a statement.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
