A man was shot by a Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) officer during a search of a Sutherland home on Friday night.
SPS said in a news release on Dec. 20 that members of the force’s Tactical Support Unit were executing a warrant in the 1500 block of Rayner Avenue when the officer used the firearm.

Police said a 25-year-old man, who they called a suspect, was taken to hospital and is believed to be in stable condition.
SPS also said their investigation is ongoing and people could expect an increased police presence in the area, where a manufactured home community called Raynor Village is located.
The shooting is being investigated by Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) and any further details would be provided by SIRT.
SIRT is a civilian-led, independent body that investigates incidents where a person has died or suffered serious injury arising from the actions of on or off-duty police officers, or while in the custody of police, as well as allegations of sexual assault or interpersonal violence involving police.
Final reports into SIRT investigations are issued to the public within 90 days of the investigation ending.
