A 34-year-old man from the Pelican Lake First Nation was killed this week when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving collided with a truck.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, the crash happened at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, on the First Nation northwest of Shellbrook.

“The driver of the ATV, a 34-year-old male from Pelican Lake First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“An adult female ATV passenger from Flying Dust First Nation was seriously injured and transported to hospital.”
The driver of the truck, an adult male from Pelican Lake, was hospitalized after the crash “with unknown injuries,” the Mounties noted, while three passengers in the truck were unhurt.
“This investigation is ongoing with the assistance of RCMP Collision Reconstruction, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, the Spiritwood RCMP and Forensic Identification Section,” the federal police force noted.
The crash on Pelican Lake First Nation happened the same day as an ATV rollover on the Fishing Lake First Nation which left a young boy dead.
According to the RCMP, four children were on the ATV when it rolled.
“The driver and two other passengers did not report serious injuries to police,” the Saskatchewan RCMP said in a statement.
Saskatchewan has seen a number of fatal crashes involving ATVs this year, which prompted the Mounties to issue a reminder about safety for ATV drivers in late September.
