Officers later raided a home in Nipawin, where the RCMP said they seized a loaded pistol, a rifle with no serial number which was allegedly loaded with prohibited magazines, a conducted energy weapon “commonly known as a taser,” and a replica submachine gun.
Police also seized “material consistent with drug trafficking including a scale and packaging,” along with 300 grams of “an unknown white powder,” which the RCMP said will be sent to Health Canada for analysis.
The 44-year-old man is now facing six gun charges, and is expected to appear in provincial court in Nipawin on Dec. 17.
“This investigation determined drugs were being trafficked in the Nipawin, Tisdale, Melfort, Carrot River and surrounding area,” RCMP Cpl. Tyler Kerr said in a statement.
“It’s the result of inter-provincial collaboration and excellent work by our criminal analysts and investigators that we continue to identify sources of criminal activity and take enforcement action to help keep our communities safe.”
