For the first time since May, vehicles will be able to drive on the Broadway Bridge this weekend.
The 93-year old bridge underwent a six month long rehabilitation project that saw deck repairs, improvements to the multi-use pathways and more.

Anne-Marie Cey, executive director of Broadway Business Improvement District, said the reopening came with a sense of relief.
“It’s really good news for everyone who lives, works and visits the Broadway and Nutana area,” she said.
Cey said the general consensus of businesses in the Broadway area was the closure “wasn’t as bad as they were expecting.”
“There were a couple that had significant decreases in revenue over the summer due to construction as well as the bridge closure, but there were some that actually had their best summer ever,” she said.
Communication with the city was very transparent, said Cey.
“I feel like from all the updates that we have received during this construction period that it has been very smooth,” she said. “Fingers crossed that it will be a smooth transition.”
Cey also signed up for the email updates.
“They came out every two to four weeks and they kept us very (informed) with where they were at,” she said. “We didn’t really hear any complaints about noise or dust or anything like that.”
Cey said the reopening now is very important.
“It’s huge, the holiday season is one of our busiest times,” she said. “Having that bridge open, it’s going to just have easier access, smoother traffic flow, and more reasons for people to come down and enjoy the Broadway area.”
Cey said she hasn’t heard many complaints about the bridge closure, but had heard some jokes as the construction neared the end.
“I heard a couple walking on Broadway and they said they should have a ribbon cutting (for the re-opening),” she said.
