Some of the best curlers in Canada are gearing up to compete for the national mixed doubles championship in Saskatchewan.
Fourteen teams will be sliding into Assiniboia, Sask. on Sunday to compete in the 2025 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, which runs until Nov. 8. The field will be split into two pools of seven for the round-robin portion of the tournament, which wraps up on Wednesday. The teams will be split into pools after that, with the semifinal set for 10 a.m. on the last day of play and the national championship game starting at 2:30 p.m.

“The field is stacked with heavy hitters, including Saskatchewan’s fan-favourite Team Jason Ackerman from nearby Regina,” Curling Canada said in a statement.
“Ackerman and his wife, Colleen, are back to chase another title, after their victorious 2012 run and a silver in 2024 alongside second Sam Wills. This year, the team added 2019 Scotties bronze medallist Robyn Silvernagle.”
Jessie Hunkin, who was Silvernagle’s teammate at the Scotties, is also playing in the mixed championship, skipping Team Alberta.
“Hunkin is one of two female skips this year,” Curling Canada noted. “Betti Delorey leads the way as skip for the Northwest Territories. It is the first time two women have played skip at the same event since 2005.”
The Canadian mixed curling champions will then go on to represent the nation at the 2026 World Mixed Curling Championship, though the location for that event has not yet been announced.
