A pair of suspects from the RM of Manitou Lake are facing multiple charges after a joint RCMP investigation led to the seizure of firearms, cocaine and stolen vehicles valued at more than $100,000.
The Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) began investigating a man with outstanding warrants on Aug. 8 who was suspected of trafficking drugs in Neilburg, Sask.

On Sept. 11, officers with the CRT and the Saskatchewan Trafficking and Response Team arrested the man as he left a business in Wainwright, Alta. Police say a woman who was with him was also taken into custody.
Later that day, police executed search warrants on a vehicle and a rural Neilburg residence. They say officers found a loaded 9mm carbine rifle, about two ounces of cocaine, an SKS-style rifle, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and evidence consistent with drug trafficking.
Investigators also recovered several stolen vehicles and equipment, including four ATVs, two side-by-sides, a snowmobile and an SUV. Police say about half of the stolen items have been returned to their owners, while others remain unclaimed including:
- one green Polaris Arctic Cat snowmobile
- one red and blue motocross-style ATV
- one black motocross-style ATV
- one green Honda full-size quad ATV.

As a result, a 32-year-old man and 28-year-old woman are facing charges including drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of firearms, careless use of firearms and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
The nman is also charged with possession of firearms and ammunition contrary to an order and failing to comply with release conditions.
He has been remanded into custody in Alberta and is scheduled to appear in Wainwright court Oct. 16, while the woman is due to appear in court in Lloydminster the same day.
Staff Sgt. Kory Davidsen of the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams says the arrests highlight the importance of cross-border police work.
“The strong collaboration and successful result of this investigation confirm that the Saskatchewan RCMP’s SERT in Lloydminster is strategically positioned and possesses the specialized expertise necessary to ensure that criminals in this area cannot exploit the border between Saskatchewan and Alberta to their advantage,” Davidsen said in a release issued Friday.
