Man taken into custody for possessing weapons and evading police
A 47-year-old man faces 10 weapons-related charges after evading the police and possessing a loaded sawed-off rifle on Sept. 6, said police in a statement.
At about 3 a.m., police officers initiated a traffic stop at Central Avenue and 108th Street West, but the vehicle fled. The vehicle was observed disobeying traffic signals.
The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit was able to acquire the vehicle and relayed to patrol units that the vehicles had stopped in the 100 block of Kellins Crescent, said police.
After the driver “exited the vehicle and attempted to hide between two houses, he was taken into custody by a police service dog,” read the statement.
