An incident that resulted in the James Smith Cree Nation being locked down Monday morning turned out to be a false alarm.
Melfort RCMP say they received a report of an injured man in the community but their investigation found him alive and unharmed.

The lockdowns were put in place around 10 am and lifted around noon.
“We put our Nation in lockdown earlier this morning as a precaution while we verified the information we received. Sometimes wrong information can spread and cause confusion, so we wanted to be sure,” community leaders said on social media.
Northeast School Division has issued a hold and secure alert for its schools in Melfort, but said that was just a precaution and there are no direct threats to their schools.
Parents are asked to not call or go to the school in the next short while.
