A 27-year-old woman from Prince Albert has been charged with aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer after an incident in Saskatoon on Thursday.
Saskatoon Police Service said in a news release on Aug. 22 that officers were called to a community garden in the 3100 block of Arlington Avenue in the Eastview neighbourhood on Aug. 21 after a 75-year-old woman reported that she had been gardening when she was approached by an unknown woman around 5:10 p.m., who she said then began assaulting her with a gardening tool.

Police said the senior was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and the suspect ran away but was found a short time later in a nearby tree line and arrested.
Police said an officer was then punched in face, requiring hospital treatment for a minor physical injury, as the woman was being booked into detention.
She is also facing charges of breach of undertaking and breach of probation, and police said she was also wanted on outstanding warrants of arrest in Prince Albert.
