With wildfire conditions improving in Saskatchewan, evacuated communities in the province are now able to return home and provincial highway access is open.
According to the latest update from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) as of Tuesday morning there are 60 active wildfires in the province. Currently six are contained, eight are uncontained, 33 are being assessed, and 13 are listed as protecting values.

The SPSA is expected to provide an update to the media at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
“It is important for individuals to remain vigilant in recognizing and reporting emergency situations,” the SPSA said in a media release, noting the Sask911 operations are integral to the province’s emergency response process.
“When making a 9-1-1 call, be prepared to describe the type of incident you are reporting and the location of your emergency. It’s also important, if possible, to provide the phone number you are calling from along with your name,” the release said.
