Police in Saskatoon say an 11-day project aiming to disrupt crime in the Bridge City last month saw officers make 176 arrests, seizing a wide assortment of drugs and weapons in the process.
“Between June 10 and 21, the Saskatoon Police Service conducted a high visibility enforcement and crime disruption project within areas of increased criminal activity as part of a proactive approach to a city-wide safety plan,” the police force said in a statement.

During the project, officers generated 643 calls for service, leading to 176 arrests and 183 new charges against 81 people. Officers also executed 220 outstanding warrants.
The project saw police seize one gun, four imitation guns, 25 “bladed weapons,” 13 canisters of bear spray, four “blunt weapons” and $6,085 in cash.
Officers also seized 103.53 grams of cocaine, 44.26 grams of methamphetamine, 24.27 grams of fentanyl, 24 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 1.5 grams of hydromorphone, along with 42 oxycodone pills, 40 hydromorphone pills, 14 risperidone pills and 14 olanzapine pills.
“This project is a proven example of how the right resources, in the right place, and at the right time can suppress crime in our community while removing violent offenders and dangerous weapons from our streets,” Police Chief Cameron McBride said in a statement.
“This balanced approach to community engagement and strategic enforcement through a city-wide safety plan is paramount to addressing violent crime in Saskatoon.”
