The man alleged responsible for shooting a Prince Albert landlord in the throat said nothing when he appeared in court Thursday morning.
In connection to the events that occurred in June at a property in the city’s west flat, 24-year-old Preston Bird is facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm with intent to injure and possession of an unauthorized firearm.

According to a statement provided by the Prince Albert Police Service, Bird was arrested on Wednesday in the 800 Block of 15th Street East.
Due to the fact that the offence occurred during an eviction gone bad, the story grabbed provincial attention and shone a spotlight on the issues landlords in the city are facing.
Bird was not the former tenant but is reportedly well known to the woman who was.
Meanwhile, the man who was shot remains in hospital in Saskatoon and was left paralyzed from the neck down.
His sister was present in the courtroom gallery and expressed relief about the arrest. She was supported by a member of the Prince Albert Police Service’s Victim Services unit.
