An Alberta construction worker died and another worker was injured after a crane collapsed at a work site in Saskatoon on Saturday.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release on Sunday that the 30-year-old man who died was from Fort Saskatchewan, AB, and his next of kin had been notified. They also said the injured man was aged 37 and did not say where he was from and provided no information on his injuries.

SPS said they were called to the site on Webster Street in the Forest Grove neighbourhood at 9:40 a.m. on July 5 and gave no further details.
The construction site is next to Forest Grove Community Church, and the site of a rental community development called The Hadley, being built by WestCliff Properties, a Saskatoon based real estate development, investment and management company.
The company’s website says The Hadley site will include “162 residential units from bachelor suites to three-bedroom units.”

Neighbours stood on their lawns as they watched rescue crews work on Saturday, and described a loud and thunderous bang that woke up the entire neighbourhood.
“We were just out on our deck and we heard a crash,” said Gary Hill, who lives in the area. “It sounded like a building collapsed, it was very loud.”
Another neighbour told 650 CKOM that after the crash he heard cries for help from the top floor. The condition of the person taken to hospital is not known.
“I thought if it’s going to be dangerous we’ll be hearing sirens,” said Hill. “Of course, we heard sirens come out here and this crane is laying on the building.”
A dozen emergency vehicles were on the scene including police cruisers, ambulance, fire trucks and the battalion chief.
