“Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two adult males,” police explained in a statement.
“One of them had injuries described as serious and was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 39-year-old Steven Michel.”
An investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes led to a charge of second-degree murder against Maverick Eninew, a resident of Deschambault Lake. Police said Eninew and Michel knew each other prior to the alleged murder.
Eninew was described as five-foot-nine in height, weighing 157 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has a tattoo of a flower on the back of his hand, police said, and may be wearing a black baseball cap and a black hoodie.
He’s known to spend time in both Deschambault Lake and Prince Albert, the Mounties added, and he occasionally uses the nickname “Mavvy.”
“If you see Maverick Eninew, do not approach him,” police said.
“Report all sightings and information about the whereabouts of Maverick Eninew to your local police at 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).”
