“Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two adult males,” police explained in a statement.
“One of them had injuries described as serious and was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 39-year-old Steven Michel.”
An investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes led to a charge of second-degree murder against Maverick Eninew, a resident of Deschambault Lake. Police said Eninew and Michel knew each other prior to the alleged murder.
Police initially asked the public to report any sightings of Eninew, but on Tuesday the RCMP confirmed that he was located and arrested in Deschambault Lake on Monday.
He’s expected to appear in court in La Ronge on Wednesday, police said.
