Police in Saskatoon say they’re confident that the suspects in the killing of Harvey Zoerb appear in a collection of surveillance footage.
The video was shared to social media this month, close to the one-year anniversary of the Saskatoon man’s death. Zoerb, 66, had a long struggle with bipolar disorder and was living in a group home at the time of his death on June 12, 2024.

According to sergeant Matt Ingrouille, with the Saskatoon Police Service’s major crime section, Zoerb was “brutally, violently attacked” after leaving a 7-Eleven early that morning. He was found badly injured in a parking lot outside of Fairhaven School, and was rushed to hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced dead.

“It was a violent attack, it seems to be an unprovoked attack, and Harvey was left for dead,” Ingrouille said.
Ingrouille said officers canvassed the neighbourhood for witnesses and collected a significant amount of surveillance footage.
“One witness believes they saw three suspects – or potential suspects – flee the area,” he said.
“I’m quite confident to say that we probably have the suspect in this video footage.”
Ingrouille asked anyone who sees themself in the footage to get in touch with police “so we can cross you off the list.”
Police also released information about the weapon used in the attack on Zoerb.
“It’s a T-shaped piece of metal, and so if anybody happened to see somebody with a T-shaped piece of metal, please give us a call,” Ingrouille said.
“If you happen to be missing a T-shaped piece of metal, perhaps in your backyard you had some scrap metal or something, it was part of a stand or something of that nature, please give us a call and let us know.”

Ingrouille said the attack was so violent that a large amount of Zoerb’s blood likely ended up on the clothing of his attackers, and the killer or killers would have had to change their clothes and wash up afterwards.
He said someone who witnessed the attack directly may also want to come forward.
“If there was three people involved in this attack, perhaps it was only one of these individuals that had a homicidal tendency and decided to attack Harvey, and if you’re one of those people that were there and are shocked that they did this but you’re scared, I’m telling you you can call me directly,” Ingrouille added.
“Come forward. Call Crime Stoppers. Call the Saskatoon Police Service. That would make you a witness, not a suspect.”
In the video, Zoerb’s brother Marvin, who he used to phone every morning at 8 a.m. sharp, said the people who killed Harvey know that what they did was wrong.
“They know they took the life of somebody, and that that person had a life and had a family and had loved ones and people that cared about him, who are now experiencing the loss of him,” he said.
“I don’t have him to call me at eight o’clock in the morning anymore.”
Ingrouille spoke directly to Zoerb’s killers in the video, promising that police are not going to give up on the investigation.
“We aren’t going to stop,” he said. “You’re going to get caught.”
