As another school year begins to wrap up, Saskatoon’s C95 radio station wanted to celebrate one special teacher who goes above and beyond for her students and school.
C95 presented Lorianne Brown, a Grade 7/8 teacher at Ecole St. Peter, with its Teacher of the Year award.

Brown has 24 years of teaching under her belt and has been at École St. Peter for the past seven.
She is beloved by her co-workers and students, who nominated her for the special award.
Brown was surprised by the award but is grateful and humbled by the recognition.
“I don’t even know what to say. I’ve been teaching here for seven years; I’ve had lots of students and I love you guys. I do. I love my students. Thank you for bestowing this on me. I just can’t even imagine. I thought I was getting fired,” she said with a laugh.

Her Grade 7/8 students were with her for the award ceremony. A handful of students spoke about why Brown deserves the award.
“Mme. Brown makes every child feel seen. It doesn’t matter if they have different ways of learning, she will help them with what they need and make sure they understand,” wrote current student, Emmy Yantz, in her nomination.
“She also makes learning incredibly fun. It truly is a blessing to be in her class for even one year, it changes your perspective on learning and school. I hope this shows her we care.”
The prize includes $3,000 for the teacher to use as they wish and a bonus $500 to be used for the classroom.
C95 is the sister station to 650 CKOM.
