A 48-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly pointing a fake gun at police officers early on Wednesday morning.
According to police, a bystander waved down officers who were patrolling in the area of 20th Street West and Avenue V South were at around 1 a.m., and reported a person walking in the middle of the street nearby.

“When officers approached the male, he turned and appeared to point a firearm at them,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement. “While attempting to investigate further, the male again pointed what appeared to be a handgun in their direction.”
Police said the man was arrested without further incident, and officers seized an imitation handgun.
He’s now facing charges of assaulting a police officer and possession of an imitation weapon for the purpose of committing an offence.
Knife and brass knuckles seized after weapons complaint
Police arrested two 29-year-old men while responding to a weapons complaint on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were called to Spadina Crescent East “after two men were observed pointing what was believed to be a handgun at others passing by on the pathway,” police said.
According to police, officers arrested the two suspects, who were carrying a knife and brass knuckles.
Both men are facing charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and breaching court-imposed conditions, while one of them is also facing a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
Sergeant assaulted
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, assault by choking, assaulting a police officer and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to a business in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive for a report of a man assaulting a woman.
When officers arrived, a man, who later would be determined to be the suspect in the initial assault, struck the Sergeant in the face.
Following a brief struggle, the man was arrested and charged.
Neither the victim of the initial assault or the police officer were seriously hurt.
