A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday afternoon after a struggle with police officers.
According to police, the teen was trying to load a sawed-off shotgun at the time of his arrest.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Rusholme Road in the city’s Mount Royal neighbourhood just before 4 p.m. after getting a report of a person armed with a shotgun.
“Upon arrival, officers located the youth male and confirmed him to be in possession of a sawed-off shotgun; he refused to comply with officer commands while attempting to load the weapon,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“Following a struggle, he was taken into custody. He was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant at the time.”
The teen is now facing charges of carrying a firearm in a careless manner, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of a loaded, prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon while prohibited, and failing to comply with court-ordered conditions.
Man bitten, struck with a hammer
The police force’s Serious Assault Unit is investigating an attack that happened on Thursday night.
According to police, officers were called to the 100 block of Avenue P North at around 8:45 a.m. for a report of an injured person.
“Upon arrival, officers located the male victim suffering from various injuries; it was learned that an unknown man approached him, pulled him to the ground, bit him, and struck him several times with a hammer,” the police service said in a statement.
“The suspect then fled the area.”
