The RCMP said 24-year-old Jasmine Iron is believed to be with Michael Bouvier, who police believe is armed with a gun.
“They are believed to be travelling in a black Dodge Caravan van with a deflated front tire, with Saskatchewan license plate 580 LXY,” the RCMP said in a statement issued on Friday morning.
In an update, the RCMP said the Bouvier might also have access to a black, 2009 Dodge Journey SUV, with the Saskatchewan plate 412 NPF.
“At this time, it is unconfirmed whether the male is travelling in the black Dodge Caravan or the 2009 black Dodge Journey,” the RCMP said.
“They may be heading towards the Loon Lake area, but their current whereabouts are unknown.”
Iron was described as five-foot-six in height, weighing 110 pounds, with brown eyes and hair dyed light brown. When she was last seen, she was wearing her hair in a ponytail and was dressed in a burgandy hoodie, blue jeans and black-and-white Converse running shoes.
Bouvier was described as 24 years old, and roughly five-foot-seven in height, weighing around 215 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
“Loon Lake RCMP are actively working to locate Jasmine to determine her safety and are asking members of the public to report all sightings of her and information on her whereabouts,” the RCMP said.
An emergency alert was issued shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday, asking the public to keep an eye out for Iron, Bouvier and both vehicles. Anyone who spots them was advised to stay away and report the sighting to police.
“Do not pick up hitch hikers or approach suspicious persons,” the alert noted.
The RCMP said its Critical Incident Response Team, along with officers from other detachments, are assisting with the search.
“We will provide an update on this investigation as soon as we are able,” the police force noted. “If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public.”
The Island Lake First Nation is located west of Loon Lake, near the Alberta border.
